For this year’s Pack 104 Fall Campout, on September 23-25, we went to Mount Madonna in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Mt. Madonna is a gorgeous county-run park in Santa Clara County. We have reserved the Huckleberry group camp for the pack. Your whole family (and friends!) are welcome to come join us for three days and two nights of camping, hiking, and of course S’mores.
The park has several lovely eco-zones, including redwoods, oak woodland, and grassy meadows. This gem is a well maintained, 4,605 acre park dominated by the redwood forest characteristic of the Santa Cruz Mountain range. To the east, the park overlooks the Santa Clara Valley, to the west, Monterey Bay.
60 deep folks showed up to fall camp out. There were lots of smiling, happy, fort building, and gathering. It was a wonderful weekend for community, friendship, hiking, fun skits, and listening to jokes.
Several of the AOLs went on a horseback riding adventure at Mount Madonna Stables. The scouts had a fantastic time!
More information on the park can be seen at the county website: https://parks.sccgov.org/santa-clara-county-parks/Mt.Madonna-county-park

Our scouts will be helping with setting up and distributing food – carrying it to people, cleaning up, etc. There are two volunteer shifts, 12-2 and 2-4. Volunteers are asked to register i
n advance for their shifts with this form: https://docs.google.com/s…sp=sharing
Troop 24 extended an invitation for AOLs to join them on a 5-mile hike. This is a fairly easy hike with the exception of a 600 ft steep section. There were at least 6 AOLs who joined the hike.
The pack completed a short, flat hike around Rodeo Lagoon in Marin on Saturday, September 10 from 10 am to 12 pm.
Pack 104 reconvened after summer break for the first fall meeting.
The meeting’s theme was centered on disability awareness.
