For this year’s Fall Campout on September 17-19, we’re going to try something a little different – Camp Tamarancho’s Family Fiesta!

Family Fiesta is a weekend overnight campout for Cub Scouts and their family members. This event offers an opportunity to experience many of the exciting activities that Scouting has to offer, all in one weekend. Archery, BB, handicrafts, Scout Skills, First Aid, and a campfire program are just some of activities you and your Cubs will get to enjoy. The theme for this year’s Family Fiesta is “Superheroes.”

While everyone from our Pack will be assigned to the same campsite, families need to register and pay on their own via the following link. (note: you must use this link to register, not the one on the Marin BSA Council’s website):

You have the option of arriving Friday night or Saturday morning, providing you the choice of camping under the stars for one or two nights. Delicious chef-prepared food is included! The total cost is only $25 per person, regardless of whether you’ll be there for both nights or just one night.

Pack 104 Fishing Derby | August 8, 2021

On Sunday August 8th, Pack 104 hosted a fishing and crabbing outing at Fort Baker in Sausalito from 10 am to 1pm.

Some scouts brought fishing poles and buckets to try their luck at catching sturgeon, rockfish, herring, jacksmelt, halibut, and sharks.

The view from the Fort Baker Pier was spectacular.

Thank you RJ for coordinating this great outdoor event for the pack. It was a great success.

Pack 104 Swim Day in Pinole | July 25, 2021

On Sunday July 25th, Pack 104 hosted a six-hour swim day at the Black Family Residence, located in Pinole.

There were a total of 12 families who participated in the event. The 18 scouts in attendance were working on the swimming-related portions of BSA Adventures

  • “Salmon Run” for Bears, and
  • “Aquanaut” for Webelos/AOLs

Pack 104 Tennessee Valley Hike to the Beach

On Saturday, July 10th, the pack completed a Tennessee Valley Hike to the Beach, in Mill Valley, California.
The hike began at the parking lot and the scouts and families hiked to the beach, staying there for about 30 minutes to eat lunch.
The total mileage was close to 5 miles round trip. It was an overcast day, but the hike was quite beautiful, and well attended by some of the newer pack members.

July 25 | Pack 104 Swim Day … RSVP’s required now!

The Pack 104 Swim Day is coming up on July 25th. We’re planning on having the Scouts and their families come in age-specific 2-hour windows. The tentative schedule is as follows:
* 10:00–12:00…..Lions and Tigers
* 12:00–2:00…….Wolves and Bears
* 2:00–4:00………Webelos and AOLs

Michael Black is organizing and hosting this year’s event, in his backyard in Pinole as the El Cerrito Swim Center is still in the midst of a staged reopening.

Stay tuned for more details.

Right now what we need to hear from you is whether your Scout(s) will be attending. We will need the names of all people attending, including accompanying adults and siblings.

All Scouts will need to have an accompanying adult present at the event, and Lions and Tigers will need a dedicated adult to closely supervise them and accompany them in the water.

John Bowen will be conducting BSA swimming tests for the Scouts, and then we’ll be working on the swimming-related portions of Adventures (“Floats and Boats” for Tigers, “Spirit of the Water” for Wolves, “Salmon Run” for Bears, and “Aquanaut” for Webelos/AOLs). After this, there’ll be plenty of time for the Scouts to just have fun in the pool. Looking forward to seeing you all there!!

Pack 104 Jumpstarts Summer 2021 with a Massive Cleanup at Baxter Creek in El Cerrito!!

On Jun 6, 2021, Pack 104 met up with the Green Teams of El Cerrito and the El Cerrito Trail Trekkers to remove litter from Baxter Creek. The organizers from the city remarked that they had never seen such a huge turnout for one of these events – 41 participants from Pack 104!

With a such a large group, the pack made short work of the trash along the creek/greenway and got quite a bit accomplished on the weeds as well.

Based on our discussions with the city, they would like to partner up with the pack on projects like this at least a few times a year, and for future events they will try to also include some sort of educational component as part of the event!!

This is yet another very successful collaborative event and we’re excited have the opportunity to  contribute and make positive impacts on the environment and the local community.

If you and your family are not currently part of our pack, please consider joining us for the next community project!
